Lazarus (also known as Dr. Khan) is a rapper and doctor from Detroit, Michigan. In this clip, he talks about being a devoted hip-hop head long before college, despite not starting to rap until he was already enrolled. Even with the late start, he quickly found success—battling on local radio stations, generating major buzz, and earning coverage on DetroitHipHop.com. He also built a strong following on campus, where he began selling his mixtapes. During this period, Lazarus was torn between pursuing a career in medicine or fully committing to rap.
